Lexus has compiled two distinct packages of highly aspirational premium features to create special-edition variants of its strong-selling luxury NX and 5-seat RX SUVs.
The special-edition NX Crafted and RX Crafted are fitted with eye-catching exterior and interior enhancements that build on the Luxury grade of the relevant models.
The first-ever NX Crafted is notable for the addition of a tilt-and-slide moonroof plus a panoramic view monitor that uses four high-resolution cameras – on the front, sides and rear of the vehicle – to help drivers check their surroundings.
New up-market features for the RX Crafted include a head-up display and larger multimedia screen – features usually restricted to the RX F Sport variants.
Lexus Australia chief executive Scott Thompson said the Crafted special-edition variants were specifically developed to make additional premium features available to a wider range of SUV buyers.
“We have developed the Crafted packages to enable customers to enjoy the benefits of a substantial suite of desirable new luxury features without stepping all the way to a higher grade,” Mr Thompson said.
“The NX Crafted is an authentic package that anticipates our customers’ desire to build on the contemporary style and functionality of the NX with features they will greatly appreciate,” he said.
“The RX Crafted is all about adding style, luxury and value that perfectly complement the space, convenience and manoeuvrability of our premium large SUV.”
NX Crafted – detail
NX Crafted is available in 2WD and AWD NX 300 petrol turbo and NX 300h self-charging hybrid variants.
The Crafted variants’ panoramic view monitor can provide an uninterrupted 360-degree view of the vehicle surrounds, including a “see-through function” that displays the image as though looking through a clear vehicle – particularly useful for parking and in tight manoeuvres.
Further distinguishing NX Crafted vehicles are a tilt-and-slide moonroof and unique black 18-inch alloy wheels with brightly machined surfaces for each of the five double spokes.
The black-accented treatment continues with selected exterior parts – including the front grille and mirror caps.
Lexus has completed the value-laden NX Crafted package with illuminated “Lexus” front-door scuff plates and a smart key card – a keyless entry system that allows the driver to lock and unlock the doors, open the boot and start the car without having to remove the key from their pocket.
Nine exterior colours are available, including Carnelian – a red hue that is now available across the NX range. NX Crafted buyers have the choice of black or rich cream premium interiors with silver film ornamentation.
The additional NX Crafted features represent strong value for consumers, including an offer of $62,888 drive-away for the NX 300 2WD Crafted.

RX Crafted – detail
RX Crafted brings together an even more extensive line-up of enhancements for the RX 300 turbo, RX 350 V6 and RX 450h self-charging hybrid.
Exterior updates are black 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic moonroof with front tilt and slide, and black accents for the grille, fog-lamp bezels, mirror caps and rear bumper.

Luxury level of safety and features
Both NX and RX Crafted are equipped with the Lexus Safety System + (LSS +) – a suite of advanced technologies that can prevent accidents or reduce their impact.
It includes a pre-collision safety system2 that can detect pedestrians as well as vehicles (and daytime cyclists on NX), autonomous emergency braking, all-speed active cruise control2, lane tracing assist2 (lane-keep assist on RX) and bi-LED headlamps with automatic high beam2.
Other safety features include blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert and a reversing camera. The RX Crafted is also equipped with bi-LED headlights with LED cornering lights, rain-sensing wipers and 10 airbags.
