Lexus Australia has established a September sales record with strong results across its range of passenger cars and SUVs.
September is the second consecutive month and the fifth time in 2016 that Lexus has achieved record monthly sales.
The latest result propels Lexus sales so far this year to 7,018 vehicles – a gain of 6.6 per cent over the same period in 2015.
It is the first time Lexus cars and SUVs have surpassed 7,000 sales in Australia as early as the first month of spring.
Lexus SUVs are also setting new records with 4,268 deliveries so far in 2016, an increase of 20.6 per cent or more than 700 vehicles compared with the first nine months of last year.
The Lexus NX Line has grown 17.8 per cent to 2,560 vehicles, fourth-generation RX has surged ahead by 20.3 per cent to 1,497 vehicles and the LX 570 flagship has experienced a sales increase of 71.5 per cent to 211 vehicles.
September deliveries by Lexus dealers totalled 700 vehicles, almost 3.6 per cent ahead of the previous record for September set last year. Sales in August, May, February and January 2016 were also all-time monthly records.
The September record was underpinned by the NX with 229 sales while RX (150 sales) experienced its best September in three years and LX (33 sales) achieved the best September since 2004 for this luxurious and capable four-wheel drive vehicle.
Among the brand’s passenger cars, the premium CT 200h recorded its best September in four years.
Lexus Australia chief executive Peter McGregor said the brand’s small, mid-size and large luxury SUVs were ideally placed to meet the growing preference among consumers for the flexibility offered by SUVs.
“Lexus expects to maintain its record-breaking momentum throughout the final quarter of 2016 and into next year,” Mr McGregor said.
“In addition to SUV sales being at an all-time high, Lexus is poised to receive a significant uplift with the progressive arrival of dynamic new product lines,” he said.
