Samsung Electronics Australia and RACV announced nationwide availability of smart home offering SmartThings®. Samsung SmartThings can turn homes into a smart home by helping to wirelessly connect a range of compatible smart devices, including home appliances, TVs, audio systems, smartphones and tablets, as well as a growing list of other compatible products.

The national rollout signifies both Samsung and RACV’s collaboration and commitment to delivering smart home solutions that support Australians’ lives, and is based on nationwide demand for SmartThings since it was first made available in Victoria in late-2018.

While expanding distribution across Australia, RACV is also offering customers in the Melbourne Metro area the option of professional installation to help Victorians get the most out of the new RACV Smart Home Starter Kit.

Through the combination of the SmartThings mobile app and SmartThings Wi-Fi hub Australians just about anywhere in the country will be able to easily manage connected devices around the home as well as compatible voice assistant services.* SmartThings allows consumers to connect the SmartThings Hub to multiple compatible smart third-party devices, like cameras, lights, locks and speakers. Once connected, these devices can be managed through the SmartThings app to simplify everyday tasks at home.

Eric Chou, Head of Category Management at Samsung Electronics Australia – IT and Mobile said: “Samsung continues to invest in delivering technology to Australians that offers a simple and easy way to help manage their daily lives and households through offerings like SmartThings.

“The benefit of SmartThings and Samsung’s growing portfolio of connected products is that they can operate and integrate with a range of compatible products from other brands. Our goal is to help our customers utilise connected technology to empower them to do more, in addition to making things easy.

Nicole Brasz, Home Executive General Manager at RACV said: “After experiencing strong demand and positive feedback since the launch in December 2018, we are delighted to offer the Smart Home Starter Kit Australia-wide exclusively through RACV.

The national distribution marks another significant step toward creating a more seamless connected future in more homes through the SmartThings platform experience.

We are thrilled to provide more people with a unique product to help make their homes more efficient and their lives easier.”

The RACV Smart Home Starter Kit is available Australia-wide from RACV as a self-installed offer for $299 + $13.50 postage & handling.

Those in the Melbourne Metro area (postcodes 3000-3210) can also choose to purchase the RACV Smart Home Starter Kit and installation by a trusted RACV smart home expert for $378. Both options include:

  • 1 x SmartThings Wi-Fi hub
  • 2 x SmartThings multipurpose sensors
  • 3 x SmartThings motion sensors
