Hands On Workshop (H.O.W), an online store selling Japanese craft, kits tools and accessories, based in Australia, is now stocking Chuko zippers, makers of the most extensive range of colourful designer zippers.
If you thought zippers are a mere practical necessity quietly disguised in the surrounding fabric…think again. The inspiring colour combinations made by Chuko boldly announce themselves as a feature of the piece. The zipper teeth colour contrasts with the fabric in the most delicious combinations.
“Chuko zippers will have you thinking about your projects in a whole new way. Instead of starting with the fabric and finding a zip to match, the Chuko zipper becomes the feature element of your sewn garment or accessory. It’s such a fun way to play with colour.” said Nicole McCarthy, founder of H.O.W.
A Chuko zipper will help you…
- Make zippered pouches with a truly individual look
- Make an exposed zip on a dress or skirt the key feature
- Allow you to create your own colour combination of zipper and fastener.
There are three Chuko ranges HOW is now stocking, with more to come.
1. The Colour Cocktails
The zip fabric contrasts with the line of chunky plastic teeth in a sublime selection of colours.
Available in 18cm, 28cm*, 38cm* lengths.
* The 28cm are available with square or ring shape fasteners; 38cm are available with ring shape fastener only.
2. The Freestyle Fasteners
A single roll measuring 1.2 metres. This can be cut at the required length and the two halves can be joined together. Or two halves of different colour combinations can be joined together with a coloured fastener. These require the ring or square fastener to create the finished zipper.
3. Ring and Square fasteners
Single coloured fasteners in a square or ring shape which are used with the Freestyle Fastener tape to create a finished zip.
These are sold in packets of 3 units.
As stockists of contemporary crafting materials from Japan, HOW is continually adding more products like these to their online store.
